Camp Beech Cliff Launches Project WILD
New Off-Season Outdoor Education Programming Nationally Recognized Program Brings Hands-On Wildlife Education to Families This Winter
MOUNT DESERT ISLAND—Camp Beech Cliff (CBC) is excited to announce the launch of Project WILD, a new monthly educational program series designed to connect families with nature during the school-season months. The initiative reflects CBC’s ongoing commitment to expanding outdoor education offerings and bringing quality environmental programming to the community year-round.
Project WILD is a nationally recognized, science-based environmental education program that helps learners of all ages develop an understanding of wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation through hands-on, inquiry-driven activities. The program equips educators and facilitators with practical tools to foster ecological literacy, critical thinking, and a deeper sense of responsibility for the natural world.
The series will take place on the last Sunday of each month from January through April and is designed for families with children ages 3 and up.
Upcoming Project WILD Events:
Sunday, January 25, 2026 – Wild Winter: Animal Life in the Cold
Do you ever wonder what animals need to survive and thrive outside in the cold? While humans bundle up with layers of clothes, warm up by the fire, and keep moving, wildlife has developed remarkable adaptations to endure winter’s challenges. Participants will explore how animals adapt and thrive in wild wintery weather through interactive, age-appropriate activities that spark curiosity and connection to the natural world.
Sunday, February 23, 2026 – Wild Habitats: Environments Shaping Life
Explore the incredible places that plants and animals call home, from forests and streams to rocky shores and fields. Discover how habitats meet the needs of living things and shape how they grow, survive, and thrive.
Sunday, March 23, 2026 – Wild Relationships: Nature’s Friends and Foes
Just like you, animals have friends who help them, family who protect them, and sometimes neighbors they don’t get along with. Join us as we discover the amazing connections that shape life in the wild. You might be surprised by which animals are best buddies and which ones can’t stand each other!
Sunday, April 27, 2026 – Wild Senses: Superpowers of the Natural World
Animals don’t need capes to have superpowers. Owls hunt in darkness, foxes hear tiny creatures under snow, and some animals smell what we cannot even detect.
Join us outside as we explore how animals experience the same world we do—through their own wonderful perspectives.
Program Details:
Cost: $15 per adult, $10 per child
Maximum capacity: 35 participants
Schedule: Last Sunday of each month, January through April
