Community Blanket Project: You Can Help, Too!
MOUNT DESERT ISLAND—One local artist found a really great deal on Polartec from a supplier they use.
Next, Nikki Moser said, “Given the state of the world I needed to do something that felt like direct action, and so many people are cold.”
She ordered 400 yards and started sewing.
And she has what she calls “a little group of folks” working together sewing and distributing blankets through Mount Desert Island social service agencies.
They’ve made and passed out 88 blankets so far.
The need, she says, seems unending.
“So Paige Collins bought another 400 yards of Polartec,” Moser explained. “We are hoping folks want to contribute to the cost of the fleece and even join us in sewing and distributing.
You can help too if you want.
