Craving Bold Flavor? Salsa Verde Grill Brings the Heat to Bar Harbor
The very time I ate anything from Salsa Verde Grill, a Bar Harbor restaurant that features New Mexican cuisine it was at my own house.
It was Halloween. We sort of announced anyone could stop over and give out candy. Our street is THE major trick-or-treating street in our town.
A woman hustled in carrying all this food.
“It’s for you,” she said. “We are done for the night. You use it.”
“Are you staying?” I asked.
She wasn’t. She had family obligations. She just wanted to make sure that her food was shared.
It was amazing. The salsa was the best I’d had in Maine.
That was a couple of years ago. The salsa’s awesomeness? It hasn’t changed. But Salsa Verde Grill has moved into a bigger space across Bar Harbor’s Main Street and stayed sizzling, kind, and awesome.
Here’s what they write on their website, “At Salsa Verde Grill, we bring the heat, the heart, and the heritage of real New Mexican cuisine to your table. Opened in 2023, our family-owned and operated restaurant is a celebration of bold spices, fresh ingredients, and the timeless recipes we grew up with. Whether you’re craving a plate of sizzling tacos, a red chile-smothered enchilada, or you’re curious to try your first sopaipilla, you’re in for a flavorful ride. Our menu is packed with New Mexican classics, like sopaipillas and New Mexico style Stacked Enchiladas with a fried egg on top. We also offer taquitos, elotes, Spanish rice, pinto beans, and churros which are classics from our upbringing in Los Angeles. Just a friendly heads-up: our dishes are known to carry a little kick, because real flavor should never be shy. Salsa Verde Grill isn’t just about food, it’s about family. When you walk through our doors, you’re welcomed like one of our own. We pour passion into every plate and every interaction, because we believe great food is meant to be shared.”
It’s a good kick.
Nothing about it is shy.
And the staff are so very kind.
You should check it out.
You can sit outside on the deck or inside. There are a ton of vegetarian options, too!
