Hunters Cliffs and Hunters Beach Trail
MOUNT DESERT—With approximately 65 feet in elevation gain, Hunter’s Beach Trail is one of those trails that are so chill that it doesn’t feel like you’ve hiked at all.
Don’t let that easiness stop you.
This is a great trail to a lovely and rocky beach.
And also, the cobbles on this beach can be slippery when wet.
The route is just about .6 miles. There are exposed roots. There are towering pines.
You do not need a park pass on this dog-friendly trail, which has a super small parking area on Cooksey Drive. That road comes off Route 3 and is approximately 1.6 miles past Otter Creek.
The Land and Garden Preserve help maintain the trail, but it also manages 167 acres that are nestled between Day Mountain and Hunters Beach.
Trails there include the Hunters Beach Trail, Day Mountain Trail, and Hunters Cliffs Trail.
The mission of the Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve is to conserve and share the beauty of our historic lands and gardens.
