Music and Dance from the Baltic to the Black Sea and Beyond

BAR HARBOR – On Saturday, October 4 at 5 pm, the Kotwica Band will appear at the Jesup Memorial Library for a concert of music from Europe and the Middle East. Led by David and Carolyn Rapkievian, the Kotwica band features Kevin Stone, Dave Quinby, Anne Tatgenhorst, Eloise Schultz, and Frances Stockman. Kotwica means ‘anchor’ in Polish and is considered a symbol of freedom from tyranny. They will perform music from Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Armenia, and beyond. This free concert is sponsored by the Bar Harbor Music Festival and the Thirsty Whale.
Since forming in 2022, the Kotwica Band has performed concerts and led folk dances across the state of Maine. They host a guided folk dance at the MDI YWCA on the first Saturday of each month. For more information, visit www.kotwicaband.org.
